WHAT IS HBR?
functional mobility and strength training, as well as nutrition counseling. Our staff develops unique programs that may be completed in just 15 minutes each day to help those who have suffered an injury or are recovering from surgery recover more quickly. Our goal is to connect recurring and chronic injuries to functional health and fitness, as well as educate our clients on how to maintain their health for life!
WHAT IS THE HOLISTIC APPROACH WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY AND WHAT CAN IT DO FOR ME?
Instead of isolated therapy that focuses on where the pain is, we pay attention to the entire body from head to toe. Assessing and addressing the whole body in a natural way may make all the difference in our ability to live an active and plentiful life for decades to come, even allowing us to perform at our personal best.
HOW DOES ONLINE PHYSICAL THERAPY COACHING WORK?
We connect our clients with 1-on-1 video consultations and tailored mobility & exercise programs that are linked to step-by-step videos. We also use group coaching via daily video calls accessible to everyone at Health By Ratio.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST APPOINTMENT/ASSESSMENT?
First, it's FREE! We begin with a series of safe and functional movement tests and range of motion evaluations that are tailored to the aims you're trying to achieve, the activities you do on a regular basis, and your long-term objectives.
After that, we go through all of the evaluations with you so you can understand how and why your body is moving the way it does, as well as explanations of where potential compensations and/or imbalances may be coming from.
Finally, we create a game plan for what specific mobility and exercise procedures you'll need to get back to feeling your best!
WHAT ARE THE 5 PILLARS OF HEALTH?
We truly believe that we can all considerably enhance our health and accomplish amazing things if we learn how to strengthen The 5 Pillars of Health.

1. The Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Pillar
2. The Movement Pillar
3. The Nutritional Pillar
4. The Environmental Pillar
5. The Fulfilling Service Pillar

The 5 Pillars are all interrelated, and their effects may be beneficial or detrimental to every aspect of our existence. As a result, the body has the ability to grow with its natural abilities to heal and function for decades upon decades when we give each pillar its due importance.

During our program, we make sure that our clients place a high value on not only strengthening/alignment of their bodies but also on being well-rounded in other aspects of their lives.
CAN PHYSICAL THERAPY HELP WITH SCIATICA AND LUMBAR SPINE INJURIES?
Sciatica and lumbar injuries are one of the most frequent and debilitating pains we may experience.

Personally, it was something I had to endure for years while driving or sitting down for more than 20-30 minutes, making it difficult to drive in Los Angeles traffic that takes 9 hours for every 10 miles traveled.

It's also something that my team and I have assisted a significant number of our clients with.

For others, sitting may be their difficulty, while for others it's when they go for a walk for too long or attempt to sleep. They are in the same position as I was, and they feel that they have tried everything to recover their health:
CHIROPRACTIC & MASSAGE TREATMENTS, PAIN KILLERS & NERVE BLOCKERS, AND SURGERY
Many of these therapies may provide immediate relief, but they seldom target the underlying reasons for our sciatica and lumbar challenges. Instead, they are addressing the symptoms at this time.

When we're in a bind, it's always nice to have some immediate help. So immediate relief may be quite useful when we are seriously considering whether or not it is worthwhile to self-amputate our leg with a butter knife in the present moment.

However, in the long term, symptom chasing isn't enough when we want to return to our normal daily and active lives.

TIME TO ASSESS
When you've tried everything and still can't seem to get good results, it's time to look at what is going on above and beneath your spine and/or hips to see what's preventing your core from stabilizing you correctly.

For me, the underlying causes were a combination of what was going on in my feet, ankles, and hips, which resulted in an over-arching of my lumbar vertebrae and compression of my hip capsules.

For several of our clients, it is due to having their thoracic spine and shoulder girdle being excessively compressed and rolled forward, causing them to lose the normal curve in their lumbar spine and revert to a posterior pelvic tilt.

For you, things may be different.
