CALIFORNIA REHABILITATION AND SPORTS THERAPY - SANTA CLARA: HEALTH BY RATIO
Online Physical Therapy & Functional Movement Program
Physical therapy may help you treat and heal an injury, but few people are aware that physical therapy, taken a step further than merely treating an injury but also addressing the entire body as a whole, can assist patients in achieving long-term full-body health, preventing future injuries, and even enhancing physical performance.

In truth, physical therapy of good quality, coupled with functional movement and strength procedures, may be used to construct a holistically customized treatment plan that will help you stay healthy and injury-free. We've been there myself, so we understand how aggravating it is to be in pain and not be able to figure out what is causing your issues.

If you're suffering from an ailment (or ailments) and/or chronic pain, holistic physical therapy and functional movement reconditioning may be beneficial. We'll develop a comprehensive treatment strategy that will help you reduce your discomfort and get back to normal motion. We work with clients of all ages from 15 to 70 years old, and our expertise covers a wide range of issues that can have an impact for many years or even decades.

Our comprehensive physical therapy and functional movement programs not only educate you on how to accomplish your health & fitness objectives right now, but also on how to maintain them long-term through basic exercises, stretches, and other specialized methods so that you may maximize your performance at all times while enjoying your favorite activities!
WHAT IS HBR?
An online holistic health & fitness program that includes physical therapy, corrective exercise, functional mobility and strength training, and nutritional guidance. Our staff develops individualized programs that may be completed in just 15 minutes each day for injury recovery and prevention. Our objective is to connect recurring and chronic injuries to functional health and fitness, as well as educate our clients on how to maintain it for life!
WHAT IS THE HOLISTIC APPROACH WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY AND WHAT CAN IT DO FOR ME?
Instead of treating one body part at a time and focusing almost entirely on where the pain is, we assess the entire body from head to toe. Assessing and treating the whole body in its natural motions may make the difference between being able to live an active and plentiful life for decades to come while performing at our personal best now.
HOW DOES ONLINE PHYSICAL THERAPY COACHING WORK?
We integrate 1-on-1 video coaching sessions with all of our clients, as well as customized mobility and fitness plans that are linked to step-by-step films. We also use group coaching via daily video meetings for everyone at Health By Ratio.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST APPOINTMENT/ASSESSMENT?
It's free!
We begin with a range of safe and functional mobility assessments and range of motion tests based on your goals, the activities you do on a daily basis, and past injuries.
After we've reviewed all of the evaluations, we go through them with you so you can understand how your body is moving the way it is and where potential compensations or imbalances are coming from. Finally, we develop a game plan on what specific mobility and exercise techniques you'll need to get back to your health and fitness goals!
WHAT ARE THE 5 PILLARS OF HEALTH?
We truly think that we can all greatly enhance our health and accomplish amazing things if we learn how to strengthen The 5 Pillars of Health:

1. The Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Pillar
2. The Movement Pillar
3. The Nutritional Pillar
4. The Environmental Pillar
5. The Fulfilling Service Pillar

The five pillars are all interrelated, and their success or failure can have a significant influence on our lives in every area. So when we give each of them the attention it deserves, the body has the ability to grow for decades and decades with its natural abilities to heal and perform.

We help our clients focus on their health by strengthening and aligning their bodies. But we also help them to be well-rounded in other areas of their lives.
CAN PHYSICAL THERAPY HELP WITH SCIATICA AND LOWER BACK INJURIES?
One of the most common and debilitating pains we can deal with is sciatica and/or lower back pain.

Personally, it was something I had to deal with for years while driving or sitting in a car for more than 30 minutes, making it difficult to drive around in LA's beautiful traffic that takes 9 hours for every 10 miles traveled.

It's also something that my team and I have assisted a staggering number of our clients with.

Some people find it difficult to sit for long periods of time, while others have difficulty doing so at particular times. For others, it's when they go for a walk for too long or when attempting to sleep.
When they come to us, they are in a similar situation to how I felt: believing that they had exhausted all possible options for healing:
CHIROPRACTIC & MASSAGE TREATMENTS, PAIN KILLERS & NERVE BLOCKERS, AND SURGERY
However, rarely do each of these therapies have the ability to cure our condition by themselves. The problem with these treatments is that they seldom target the true causes of sciatica and/or lower back instability. Instead, they're focused on treating the symptoms at the time.

Now, when we are in an emergency situation and we may not know if it's worth it to self-amputate our leg with a butter knife, immediate relief is absolutely beneficial.

However, when it comes to long-term recovery and returning to our normal daily and active routines, symptom chasing isn't enough.

TIME TO ASSESS
When traditional chiropractic therapies fail, it's time to look at what is going on above and below the spine and/or hips to see what's restricting our core's ability to hold us securely.

For me, the causes were a mix of things that were occurring in my feet, ankles, and hips that resulted in an over-arching of my lumbar vertebrae and compression of my hip capsules.

Some of our clients' thoracic spines and shoulder girdles are excessively compressed and rolled forward to the point where they are losing the natural curvature of their lumbar spines, reverting to a posterior pelvic tilt.

It may be different for you.
