Physical therapy has long been known to help people recover from and treat injuries, but few individuals are aware that physical therapy, when taken a step further beyond just treating an injury and addressing the entire body as a whole, can also assist them in gaining enduring full-body wellness, preventing future injuries, and even enhancing physical performance.

WHAT IS HBR?

Our online holistic health and fitness program combines physical therapy, corrective exercise, functional mobility and strength, and nutrition coaching. We create customized programs that can be done in as little as 15 minutes per day.


These programs help people recover from injuries and also prevent future injuries. As someone progresses, they can also start doing functional fitness exercises so they can better enjoy their favorite activities.

Our mission is to help people with recurring or chronic injuries become healthy and fit. We will teach them how to maintain their health and fitness for life.

HOW DOES ONLINE PHYSICAL THERAPY COACHING WORK?

We offer 1-on-1 video coaching calls with all of our clients. We also have customized mobility & exercise programs that are linked to step-by-step videos. Plus, we have group coaching through daily video calls that everyone in Health By Ratio can access.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST APPOINTMENT/ASSESSMENT?

First, it is free. We do a series of safe and functional movement assessments and range of motion tests. These are based on what you are trying to heal, the activities you regularly perform, and your future goals.


Next, we will review all the assessments with you so that you understand how and why your body is moving the way it does. We will explain where potential compensations and/or imbalances may be coming from.


Finally, we will create a game plan on what specific mobility and exercise techniques you need to do to achieve your health and fitness goals.

CAN PHYSICAL THERAPY HELP WITH SCIATICA AND LOWER BACK PAIN?

Some of the most common and painful problems we can experience are sciatica and lower back pain.

​

I had this problem personally for a long time. When I drove or sat down for more than 20-30 minutes, I started to hurt really bad down my entire right leg, and it's really tough to drive in LA traffic since it takes about 9 hours for every 10 miles traveled!

​

It's also something that my colleagues and I have been able to assist an incredible number of our clients with.

Some people find it hard to sit for a long time. Other people find it hard to walk for a long time or sleep a full night.

They are in a comparable circumstance when they come to us because they believe that they have tried everything to get well:

These treatments can help relieve your pain at the moment, but they don't deal with the root causes of your sciatica and/or lower back pain. This means that the pain might come back.

This immediate relief can be great when we are seriously debating whether it is worth it or not to amputate our leg with a butter knife.

However, in the long run, we need to find a way to get back to our normal lives. We cannot just keep chasing symptoms.

TIME TO ASSESS

If you've tried all of these methods and you're still not feeling better, it's time to find out what is causing the problem. You might need to look at what is going on above and below your spine and hips to see what is preventing your core from stabilizing you correctly.

​

My back problems were caused by a combination of factors. These included what was happening with my feet, ankles, and hips that caused me to arch my back more than usual and compress my hip capsules.

​

Some of our clients have problems because their thoracic spine and shoulder girdle are too compressed and rolled forward. This means they lose the natural curvature in their lumbar spine, which causes them to tilt their pelvis backward.
